Types of Boiler:

There are two main types of boiler – conventional boilers and combination (or combi) boilers. They work differently, so it is useful to compare functionality and boiler costs.

Unlike conventional boilers, combi boilers don’t need a hot water tank. Combi boilers heat the water directly from the mains so you’ll benefit from an unlimited supply of hot water. This also means it’s much easier and quicker to heat your home rather than waiting for a hot water tank to fill up.

They’re also much more compact than traditional boilers. Most homes have them fitted in their kitchens neatly stored away behind a storage cabinet door.

Combi Boiler Installation Prices

Many people search for “British Gas boiler prices” when looking for combi boiler prices with fitting. It’s no surprise as the company is the country’s largest supplier of natural gas. There are other installers like HomeServe and BOXT who are proactively trying to increase their market share. There are also smaller regional companies who are worth considering when you are looking for a new boiler, as it is useful to see how boiler costs vary between companies.

Remember too that if you choose British Gas to install your boiler, you may be paying more than you need to. LoveMoney tells us that “when it comes to installation, you might want to start with energy companies like British Gas for a quote. You should also look at independent traders who typically charge up to a third less”. Boiler prices from British Gas may not be the best deal for you, and boiler costs can vary drastically based on various factors.

First, we’ll look at boiler prices and then consider how much you’ll generally pay to have them installed. Equally, who you should choose to install them.

So, how much should you pay for your boiler? As we’ve seen, different types of homes require different types of boilers. We’ll look at the leading manufacturers’ offering first then look at the market as a whole.

In our boiler price study, we’ll not just be looking at the kilowatts produced by each boiler. We’ll look at boiler output if this isn’t high enough. Getting your home and water heated to the temperature you require is difficult. If it’s too high, you’ll be paying your gas company more than you need to. Be sure to ask an installer why they believe the output they’re recommending for your home is suitable for you, otherwise you could incur unncessary costs.

We’ll also look at the size of the boilers themselves. They can vary significantly in size, and if you’ve got somewhere in mind you want it to go, you’ll need to make sure it fits into that space. Finally, the flow rate – how much water your boiler can handle at any one time. If you use the water a lot in your home, it’s better to go for a higher flow rate.
